Strengthen them

Professional athletes don’t get a pass from practice simply because they play sports as their job. They are only good enough to be a professional because they practice. They have to show up at the gym to strengthen their muscles, they need to eat well, be disciplined and these good habits pay off on game day or the day of their competition.

As Christians we too need to practice so we can be strong when we are called in to play. When Jesus was on earth, He taught us the way to be kind to one another, how to bring healing and comfort and to take time to pray. The scriptures allow us to go back and get guidance so we can build up our faith muscles. Then when times get tough, we are strong enough in our knowledge of right and wrong, what to do and what not to do, that we are able to stand in confidence to fight off any adversity we face.

This is the strength of God. This is what we learn from reading the scriptures.
