2013 - Finding God in my Life

Today I am looking for you, Lord. Of course I didn’t have to look far because you are always here with me. The weather is gloomy and cold but I get to do Bible Study today and go to Mass so all I see is sunshine!

I was able to check in with a couple of friends whom I always have a hard time reaching so I am grateful for your presence in those relationships. I’m also having lunch with another friend today and am excited to catch up on how you are present in her life and share with her the blessings you have given me.

I am so grateful for today and the time you give me to available to others. This past week I received a couple of great compliments which are on account of you!

First, my daughter’s coach said she began to volunteer at Harvesters with a food drive at work and she took people there to volunteer. She thanked me for introducing her to the organization when I coordinated a team bonding event where we went to volunteer. She said she hoped it would ‘pay forward’ and inspire others to get involved. I was humbled that she gave me credit because it’s all about you!

The second compliment was from a YM at a local parish. She reached out to me because she is seeking a female small group leader for the high school group. She said she thought of me because she respects me and knows I’m good at leading teens. I was honored by her confidence in me though I declined because I’m already helping with the teens at another local parish. I felt her asking was a huge tribute to YOU and I’m reminded of the lyrics of the Rich Mullins song, “I did not make it but you made me”

Lord, you know when I stand and when I sit. Help me to stay still long enough to hear whether you want me to stand or to sit. I want nothing more than to please you but I often feel that I fall short and feel I spend my time on the wrong things.

Lord, keep me from over thinking or analyzing what I think you want…I think I am getting in my own way!
