2007 - My Daily Walk

Hugged each of the girls today when they got up, as I’m working to remember to cherish the moments and thank God for each of them.

It is tempting to just get up and yell at them to hurry. It is tempting to be selfish and take a shower instead of helping them get ready for school. It is tempting to make a face, ignore or make a mean comment when those who I say I love want to express their love by kissing me good morning before brushing their teeth - UGH, smelly!

But today God, I was able to control my initial reaction to turn away from my wants and give them the affirmation and love they wanted to express.

I know God is here and I know the devil is here too. I cling to the God of Love and Mercy to be faithful when I do the right things and when I am weak. Father J. Glenn Murray said, “Father, I am sorry I have not been the person I should be, but I thank you I am not the person I used to be.”

This statement rings true in my life because I know I am a sinner and I don’t always make good choices but because of my walk with the Lord, I am able to say God is with me and that makes each day a better day than yesterday. One day closer to my Lord and Savior, one day closer to the fulfillment God has in store!

I pray I can stay connected to God as I move from my mountain top experience to my everyday routine. It is in the every day we encounter the struggles and challenges of being a “child of God”, a “Servant of the Lord” and a “Friend of Jesus”.
