2010 - No Meat
This Lent, my giving up meat makes me think of the sacrifice each time I go to eat. I think of God and appreciate the gifts I’ve been given. I think of the blessings I have of a nice home, the choices of food and I am thankful.
This sacrifice of no meat is hard but not as hard for me as it is for my husband. He is hilarious telling me to go buy salmon, shrimp and tuna at Sam’s. He went shopping and bought me protein bars and more fish! I keep telling him it is about giving up meat, not to eat fish all of the time! He’s being kind and is thinking of me, trying to be helpful but making a big deal of it takes away from the sacrifice.
My Lenten readings remind me today to see Christ in each person I meet and to remember to be humble. Only Christ can satisfy the discontent I feel…Come Lord Jesus!
