Making Scripture Relevant

2008 - What are you looking for?

The school Mass was changed to Friday, so I get some bonus time to spend in prayer, meditation and writing in my journal. This is such a special gift!

Today the question that is weighing on me is, “What are you looking for?”

This is what Jesus asked his disciples in the scriptures and this is the question he asks me today. So I wonder. Am I walking aimlessly or do I have a purpose? And if I have a purpose, what is it? Is my purpose pleasing to God?

As I walk through the actions of my day, I plan to keep this question with me, “What am I looking for?”

Another question posed to me today was by my husband as he was getting ready to leave for work, “are you doing anything fun today?” My response was, “well nothing too exciting.” However, as I reflect on it, I regret my response because I should have shared what my heart felt and that was to say, “YES! I am doing a lot of fun things today.” I should have explained that I am working (not only is having a job a blessing but doing work which I enjoy AND points others to Jesus is pretty awesome). I am so grateful to God that I get to be a vessel.

Lord, I pray you can give me courage and strength and knowledge to be like John the Baptist who always points to YOU!

My prayers are simple. I pray for grace and mercy in my life. I pray I can be all you call me to be so I can give you the glory and praise you deserve and I pray for those I love who suffer and struggle with trials in their lives that you will console them. I praise you Lord!
