Angel

Joseph and Mary heard from angels. Angels still guide us today, when we are aware of God’s presence in our lives. But angels can only share information with us, and it’s up to us to make the decision to follow or not.

The parents of Jesus did what they thought was best, based on the message the angel brought. They made the decision to become immigrants and flee from their home country to escape persecution.

As a parent, I never had to make this kind of extreme sacrifice for my kids by my husband and I did make many sacrifices in order to protect our children.

I believe if we did have to make a sacrifice at the level Mary and Joseph did, we would have done whatever we needed to do to protect our children. I also believe that if, like Mary and Joseph, an angel of God appeared to us, we would have been more confident about our decision. Not because it wouldn’t be difficult, but because there would be comfort in knowing we were following God’s will.
