It is Lent, the 1st Thursday. Yesterday was Ash Wednesday. The Neds family didn’t give anything up together but individually we are sacrificing…
Chocolate and texting at school – Oldest Daughter
Snacking between meals – Middle Daughter
Meat – Youngest Daughter and Me
TV except basketball – Husband
My husband and I have also added extra prayer into our schedule. In addition to my husband’s Tuesday morning prayer/bible study he is reading devotions each night. We are also attending Mass each Friday together. I’m also attending Mass on Wednesdays and an hour in Adoration on Thursdays. Oh, and reading a devotional each night.
My middle daughter is also doing a Lenten March Madness Bracket. I put it together as a resource for the teens for Lent. I’m not sure if the other two girls are adding any extra prayer to their routine or not.
This Lent my goals is to begin to satisfy the yearning I have to be close to Jesus through prayer and the sacraments. I went to reconciliation the last week of January and I am wanting to go back again! It is really amazing how aware I am of the bad things I think or do or day and how I am anxious to get a clean slate again and keep it clean. It is like when you mis-spell a word on paper and you keep looking at it and it is still misspelled and until you go to ‘spell check’ it can’t be fixed!
