Be Filled

Jesus drank wine and understood the need for human connection. He had his group of good friends he’d spend time with, share meals and go on trips. We keep ourselves so busy with things, we rarely make time to connect with friends and enjoy this sacred time with people whom fill us up when we do spend time together! Our time with friends end up at the end of the “to do list” and typically doesn’t get crossed off the list, it just gets added to the next week, month or year!!!

When we do carve out time to spend with our friends, how do you feel afterwards? Yes, we are filled with joy and our cheeks hurt from laughing and smiling so much! I’m sure I’m not the only one who, after spending time with a friend that was long over due for a visit, says “we can’t wait this long before we get together again!” This is true for friends we’ve known for most of our lives or new friends whom we just met and connected with instantly. We humans have a deep need to satisfy our soul and human connection does it!

When we connect with others and our soul is filled, we are in a comfortable place where we can simply be. Too often in our lives we are rushing from place to place, wearing the parenting hat or the supervisor hat or the coach hat and we rarely get to take a hat off!!! When we are with friends, we get to take it off and rest for a while. It’s sacred.
