Cathedral of the Plains

Building on faith

The Basilical of St. Fidelis or more commonly known as The Cathedral of the Plains is located in Victoria, Kansas. It was built between 1908 and 1911. Each church member was asked to haul six wagon loads of limestone and four wagon loads of sand each year to contribute to the building of the church.

Imagine being a part of this congregation and the planning they had to do to and how hard it was for each member to get the stone. They didn’t have motorized vehicles or machines to help make the task easy. This was a huge sacrifice for each of them!

They put in the work and we have the luxury of being inspired by it as one of the 8 Wonders of Kansas. Their faith stands as an example for all!
