Satisfy My Desire

This image is exactly how I feel when God is near…you too?

The other day I was talking to someone on the phone who takes care of the bereavement group at the parish.

I was telling him about a man who recently joined the parish who had lost his wife a few years ago and moved here to be closer to his sister.  Lets call him Chet.

However, shortly after his move, his sister had a stroke and later was moved to a rehab facility.

I saw Chet on Ash Wednesday and he told me she passed away.

I could tell he was feeling lonely and sad which is what lead me to the call to the person in charge of the bereavement ministry.

So while on the phone, the mail was delivered and GOD ARRIVED.

Okay, not LITERALLY but the letter on the top of the pile was from Chet!

I promised the person on the phone I’d email them Chet’s information, so then went in search of it.

In addition to his contact information, I found a post-it note where I’d written his sister’s name down because he’d said she’d had a stroke so I told him I’d pray for her about two months ago.

If you’d have seen me in that moment, you’d say I resembled this image of the boy, running and shouting for joy.

I’d been trying to remember his sister’s name because I wanted to have a Mass said for her and GOD DELIVERED it.

I had a desire to reach out to someone who was struggling and God showed up in a way only He can so I could bring some healing.

I received a call from Chet today.  He got the Mass card and I could hear the joy in his voice as he thanked me for this gift.

What Chet will never know is how much joy I received from being able to be a vessel of God’s living water.

Chet thinks I gave him a gift but really, he gave me one!!!
