The Perfect Triangle

Do you believe in the Holy Trinity? The belief that God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are all one? It is one of those mysteries of faith that as humans we have a hard time understanding.

I hold dear this mystery of faith because it helps me to question and study more about each piece of the Trinity. Through this practice, I’ve come to know God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit more intimately than I think I would if I simply accepted the Holy Trinity as one entity. On my journey to come to know the Holy Trinity, I’ve learned I can encounter each of them through different channels which allows me to connect to each of them through a variety of ways.

For example, with God, I can connect through nature. When he appeared to those in the Old Testament, it was generally on a mountain or in the desert, in a bush or a tree, a whale, a lion and the sea. Since God is deemed the Creator, I can find God in beautiful landscapes, the sunrise or sunset and the simplicity of a blooming flower. I say, simplicity but when I reflect on what it takes for that flower to have become what I see in front of me, it is hard not to be in awe of the creativity and purpose God, the Creator has for everything around me. Further, I know I would not have life without the ability to breathe; God gave me that breathe and one day he will take it away.

Jesus is my BFF! I connect with him through my human experiences. Every feeling I have, I know Jesus has felt and can relate to my pain and suffering as well as my joy and passion. I can read all about Jesus’ life in the Gospel, his ups and downs as well as the obstacles he faced and overcame. Through these stories, I know that if Jesus can overcome, then when I am faced with a mountain, we will climb it together!

I look at the Holy Spirit as the BEST GIFT GIVER! It’s the presence (and presents/gifts) that build me up and allow me to be me. I am better when I lean on the Holy Spirit to guide me through my day; providing me with whatever is needed to make good decisions and rely on the wisdom afforded me through my faith. I know immediately when I make a choice without the help of the Holy Spirit because I can feel it in my gut.

I don’t love one more than another or rely on or recognize or spend more time; it’s equal. It’s like a triangle where all sides are the same and necessary to hold me together. It’s the same no matter which way you look at it; it’s perfect.
