Life is a journey…

Welcome!

I wear my faith on my sleeve and I strive to live a life of integrity and intention. I am a joy-seeker, an off-road enthusiast and scripture lover.

Limited Vision

Limited Vision

God sees everything! Our view is limited to what we can understand. We use binoculars and telescopes and microscopes to help bring closer the things our human eye cannot see on it’s own but it is not the same!

In the scriptures, we learn Jesus encounters some blind people along his journey. When this happens, the message is clear that, no matter how the blindness came upon the afflicted, it was faith that took the blindness away. Now, in no retelling of the story does it say that when sight was given back or given to the blind, that they had super-power sight where they could see through buildings or for miles or even into the future. No, what was restored was limited human sight.

In daily life, we can sometimes miss seeing things that are right in front of us, like our car keys. We can even have our vision obstructed by a building or a person. Our ability to see is limited. This is how we were created; we don’t have the capacity to be able to see everything in front of us with the most intricate detail, nor could be be able to understand if we were able to see our future.

We have limited vision on purpose.

I recall a specific time when attending Mass at the Basilica at Notre Dame when I entered a pew, and immediately knelt to pray. It wasn’t until after I sat down that I noticed my vision of the altar was blocked. I could have moved or let it bother me; instead I said a little prayer. I acknowledged the fact I’d not be able to see but even though I couldn’t see didn’t mean I didn’t believe.

I recently heard an interview where comedian Kevin Hart (@kevinhart4real) said,

The beauty in life is that you don’t know what is going to happen.

You’ve got to experience the downs to appreciate the ups.

I’ve come to be okay with not knowing what the future holds. It know what God sees is limitless. I also know that through the scripture my eyes can be opened to see some of what he sees. For example, without the scripture, we would have no idea about heaven. Jesus gave us a glimpse of what heaven will be like and that it is place where we will be reunited with him. We cannot see it but our faith tells us it is there.

The reality is, I need to focus on my present and not worry about tomorrow. I find it is best if I just let God take control because with his vision, he’s already seen my future and it is beautiful!
